Army ROTC
Color Guard Request
Prioritization and Limited Availability
We strongly encourage you to request Color Guard as early as possible. The primary mission of CWU Army ROTC is to train officers for the U.S. Army while they pursue degrees at Central Washington University. Color Guard presentations are an additional duty for our cadets. In an effort to prioritize our cadets academic and ROTC training and help the cadets manage their time, we are not able to accommodate all Color Guard requests. During national holidays, including Veterans Day, Memorial Day and Independence Day, we receive a high volume of Color Guard requests. We prioritize our requests in the following order:
- On-campus Central Washington University requests
- Local school requests (Schools within Kittitas County)
- City of Ellensburg and Kittitas County requests
- Non-profit and volunteer organization request (Rotary, Kiwanis, Central Wash. Mountain Rescue, etc.)
- For-profit businesses and other organizations
Cancellation
After we commit to providing a Color Guard, please understand that due to circumstances beyond our control (travel weather, cadet availability, sudden training conflict, etc.) we reserve the right to cancel a request. We strongly encourage groups to develop a contingency plan in the unlikely event we are forced to cancel.
