Annual State of the University Address Scheduled for January 15

Entrepreneur Ron Erickson, who is also chair of the Central Washington University Board of Trustees, will join Central Washington University President James L. Gaudino at this year’s State of the University address on Tuesday, January 15, in McConnell Auditorium in Ellensburg.

 

The State of the University will begin at 11 a.m. with comments by Amy Claridge, chair of the Faculty Senate, followed by remarks by Erickson and an address by Gaudino. After the presentations and lunch, Gaudino and Erickson will meet at 2 p.m. with faculty in the Mary Grupe Center for a conversation and question and answer session.

 

In his presentation, President Gaudino will discuss the challenges facing the university in the years ahead and the importance of working together to ensure success for every student at Central. He will outline his goals for the coming year including continuing student retention efforts, developing new scholarship sources, and completing implementation of a decentralized budgetary decision-making process.

Ron Erickson has more than 35 years of experience as a manager, attorney, and senior-level executive leading technology enterprises in the global marketplace.

He has been instrumental in building several businesses serving as a founder, senior executive, board member or advisor. He is founder and chairman of Know Labs, Inc. a molecular sensor company that has invented a technology that non-invasively ascertains blood glucose levels. Previously, Erickson was a co-founder, chairman and CEO of Blue Frog Mobile, Inc., a mobile media and entertainment company.

Erickson also previously served as chairman and CEO of eCharge Corporation an Internet based transaction processing company. He was a co-founder and chairman and CEO of GlobalTel Resources, a telecommunications networking company.

Prior to that, Erickson served as chairman, interim president and CEO, vice chairman and director of Egghead Software, Inc., a company in which he was an original investor. Erickson also co-founded Microrim, Inc., a developer of the relational database, RBase. He is an active angel investor and has served as board member of several public and private companies.

Erickson is a graduate of Ellensburg High School, in Ellensburg, Washington near where his family homesteaded in 1876. He has a BA from Central Washington University, an MA from the University of Wyoming, and a JD from the University of California, Davis. He is licensed to practice law in the State of Washington.

His second, six-year term on the CWU Board of Trustees continues through September 2021.
