Central Washington University aviation department chair Amy Hoover survived a mid-air collision near an airstrip Monday morning in Idaho that killed another pilot, according to the Valley County Sheriff’s office in Cascade, Idaho.
The crash occurred near the Landmark Airstrip about 40 miles east of Cascade, which is about 70 miles north of Boise.
KBOI TV in Boise reported a helicopter transported Hoover, 52, to a hospital in nearby McCall, where she was treated and released.
Hoover was able to make an emergency landing in a grassy area near the airstrip. The other aircraft crashed about a mile or so away from the airstrip, according to Boise Weekly, bursting into flames.
