International Students Bring Rich Diversity to Central’s Campus

Being a student at Central Washington University means getting the best education coupled with real-world experience in an environment that is exciting and relevant. Central is committed to teaching students from around the world. The Office of International Studies and Programs (OISP) offers a wide variety of programs and support services for international students, education abroad participants, exchange scholars and academic departments at CWU.

The OISP provides international students with advising, education abroad program management and advising through Study Abroad and Exchange Programs (SAEP), English language training through the University English as a Second Language (UESL) program, and a unique cultural and language learning experience for Japanese students through the Asia University America Program (AUAP).

The OISP is working hard to bring more diversity to the CWU campuses and has set an attendance record by being the home to more than 550 international students. This includes students from Saudi Arabia, China, Japan, and over 40 other countries. International students bring such a rich experience to all of the campuses and many are very involved in the Student Alumni Association activities.

This year the Alumni Association, in partnership with our development office and several engaged alumni, is very excited to host one of our first international alumni gatherings in Tokyo, Japan, on June 11th. We have more than 50 participants signed up and we are excited for the networking possibilities that will come out of this opportunity.

We want to encourage all of our international alumni to stay connected with CWU in any way possible. Whether you’re looking to come back to the states from a foreign country or want to help host a program in your home country, the Alumni Association can help you engage with other alumni for potential career opportunities or programs.

We look forward to partnering with our international alumni and hope to host more programs and engagement opportunities beyond our borders. We encourage you to update your information at so we can keep you updated on future program dates and times.
