2016 Homecoming: A Week To Remember

This year marks the 125th anniversary of Central Washington University history. Whether you are a recent graduate or whether you’re part of a legacy family with generations upon generations of Wildcats, this is truly a time we can cherish and celebrate together.

We invite you to join us the week of October 10th through the 15th for a week of commemorating 125 years of being a Wildcat, and 125 years of traditions established and passed down by you, our alumni.

We’ll kick off the week of alumni events on Wednesday, October 12th. Consider attending a traditional Okotberfest Dinner hosted by CWU Dining in Holmes Dining Room in the SURC. Following dinner, head out to the CWU Challenge Course and enjoy Wellington’s Wildfire with your fellow Wildcats. Roast some marshmallows, share some s’mores, and enjoy the festive atmosphere as we gear up for a weekend of high intensity athletic competition.

Thursday join us for the highly anticipated grand opening of the newest addition to Central’s campus, Science II . There will be tours of this beautiful facility immediately following the ribbon cutting. Enjoy a slice of cake, tour the facility, and consider going to cheer on the CWU Volleyball team later that evening. You might even consider  sneaking away early to go watch the CWU Soccer team take on Saint Martin’s University. Later Thursday evening, join us for a Sip and Paint event at Gallery One where you will be able to demonstrate your artistic abilities with friends.

Friday, October 14th will surely be a night you won’t want to miss as we celebrate those alumni who are commemorating their 50-year anniversary with Central Washington University at our 50-Year Reunion Luncheon. Later that same evening, join us for the 2016 Distinguished Alumni Awards Dinner where we will recognize our 50-Year Wildcats and award those distinguished alumni who are making blazing new trails  in their careers and their communities. Following the awards dinner, we invite you to attend our after hours and welcome back get together in downtown Ellensburg

To conclude a week of reconnecting and engaging, Saturday, October 15th is sure to be a day filled with events and ways to reconnect with the university and your fellow Wildcats. Whether you choose to enjoy a morning brunch with the CWU Football team before they take on the Western Oregon Wolves participate in the Wildcat Color Run prior to the game, or you want check out one of CWU’s newest varsity sports as our Women’s Rugby team takes on Quinnipiac, Saturday is sure to be a day you won’t want to miss.

Perhaps you missed the grand opening of Science II, not to worry because there will be tours taking place from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 15th. Be sure to also stop by the fan zone at the south end of Tomlinson Stadium to find our Alumni table and tent where you will have the chance to get an exclusive CWU Homecoming 2016 t-shirt, while supplies last.

There will be quite a bit taking place during our 2016 Homecoming week and we are looking forward to seeing all of our amazing alumni engaging, reconnecting, and having a great time.
