On November 16, 2012, Central Washington University's Air Force ROTC and the Army ROTC competed against one another in an intense flag football game outside of Nicholson Pavilion. Many fans and players showed up to support their favorite team.
Air Force started out with a two touchdown lead early in the game; but, soon to follow the Army came back fighting. Just before half time, the Army had made an amazing come back scoring two touchdowns to tie the game up! It was neck and neck for the remainder of this epic battle! The Army's offense put up a great battle making progression down the field swiftly as the Air Force's defense worked hard to hold them back. By the fourth quarter of the game, they had come to a neck-in-neck race. Air Force Cadet Joshua Schultz threw a touchdown pass to Cadet Kyle Shaner changing the score to 27-28 with Army leading. In the final ten seconds of the game, Cadet Schultz threw a two-point conversion pass once again to Cadet Shaner who scored; leaving the final score 29-28 Air Force.
The crowd went wild and as the players of the Air Force team celebrated. They came together to congratulate the Army team for a great game. Each team cheered and then lined up to congratulate one another and afterwards took a group photo to commemorate the great tradition of playing one another in flag football and the hard fought game by both teams.
