A record 28.9% for female cadet attendance was achieved for this past Fall Quarter. Typically, Air Force ROTC attracts mostly male cadets. Major Wilson isn't sure of the reason for the change; but is glad to see more females are choosing to participate. In comparison to other Air Force ROTC detachments, those with Nursing program available on campus tend to have the higher female to male ratio. So this new high suggests more females are interested and pursuing their dreams of becoming an officer in today's Air Force. Historically, the last time we graduated a significant number of females was back in 2002, 5 of the 13 graduates were female. And this last year, 3 of 10 graduates were female. "I hope this trend continues," remarked Major Wilson, the Recruiting Flight Commander. Major Wilson also added, "this makes for a better, diverse CWU Air Force ROTC program and definitely, a better US Air Force." For more details--contact Major Matthew Wilson at (509) 963-2314.
