For a night of fables and music brought to life, don?t miss ?L?Homme en Animal,? Human Animals, a play presented by the CWU Department of World Languages. This French-English production is based on La Fontaine?s fables and features music from Isabelle Aboulker?s ?Fables Enchantees.? Experience the magic Friday, May 2 at 1 and 7 p.m. in the Hertz Auditorium. Admission is free and everyone is invited to attend. The CWU Department of World Languages presents ?L?Homme en Animal? in conjunction with World Languages Day and has received a grant from the CWU Foundation to aid them in sharing the production with the community. Are you ready to get Mean & Lean in '14!?

The Kittitas County Chamber of Commerce along with RSVP & Volunteer Center of Kittitas County are excited to announce the beginning of this year’s Mean & Lean program! Last year was a huge success with over 100 participants with a total combined weight loss of 847.7 pounds!
 
With your registration you will receive a free weight loss journal (first 200 participants) and a Mean & Lean button, which you can wear to numerous local businesses to get discounts and special deals (Details coming soon)
 
12 Prizes will be awarded to the top male & female participants based on Percentage % of weight loss at the end of the program
 
13th prize: participants that attend all weigh ins will be entered into a drawing for a special 13th prize
 
Optional Weigh ins: Participants who attend each optional weigh in will be entered into a drawing to win prizes on that day regardless of weight change
 
We will be kicking off the program with the First weigh in and registration for Mean & Lean in ’14 on February 5th
 
 The Location of the weigh ins will be
The Adult Activity Center (506 S Pine St.)
 
On each weigh in day,
 you can drop by to weigh in within the following times:
6:45am-7:45am,
11:30am-1:15pm,
or 4:30pm-6:00pm
 
The weigh in dates are every third Wednesday
Starting on February 5th and going until May 14th
 
Weigh in dates:
February 5th
February 26th
March 19th
April 9th
April 30th
May 14th (Final Weigh in!)
 
The price for those who participated last year is $25.00! If you are new to the program or know someone who wants to participate for the first time this year the cost is $40.00

To showcase Black American films made between 1910 and 1950, the CWU Center for Diversity and Social Justice will present a Classic Black Film Series. Each film in the series is made by, about and for Black Americans who wanted to see themselves reflected in films. The series begins with an opening reception featuring Pamela Thomas, a world-renowned national and international lecturer on the significance and impact of American race movies, Monday, April 28 at 5 p.m. outside room 103 in Dean Hall. Following the reception there will be a screening of the first film of the series, ?Midnight Ramble? at 6 p.m. in Dean Hall room 103. This award-winning documentary shares the history and foundation of early Black American films. The series continues Tuesday, April 29 at 6 p.m. with a showing of ?Body and Soul,? Wednesday, April 30 at 6 p.m. with ?Within our Gates? and Thursday, May 1 at 6 p.m. with ?God?s Step Children.? All screenings will be in Dean Hall room 103 and are free and open to the public.
