Explore the spectacular forests and canyons of central Washington while learning about recent conservation efforts. Start with a short hike in the Teanaway Community Forest to a unique geologic formation, explained by CWU Professor of Geology Nick Zentner. Then grab a local lunch and bike through scenic canyonlands along 20 miles of the Palouse to Cascade State Park Trail (formerly known as the John Wayne Pioneer Trail). Registration required.

Kittitas County is hosting two public open house events on Tuesday, June 5th to provide information to citizens and gather feedback on the ongoing work to create a plan for improving access to the Yakima and Cle Elum Rivers. Information presented will include the progress made to date by the County’s citizen advisory committee for the project. The committee has completed an inventory of existing river access sites, gathered data and input from focus groups, and created a list of potential new access sites. In addition, the committee has developed illustrations on how the new sites may be constructed for different types of uses and prepared initial cost estimates.

The forum will be moderated by Stefanie Wickstrom, esnior lecturer at CWU and the panel will include Dick Carkner, Paul Jewell, Kathi Pritchard, Howard Lyman, Kelly McLain and Marlene Pfeiffer.

This 1.5 day training will focus on communication and conflict resolution skills to address workplace problems and disputes.  

The skills learned in this training will be useful in all settings where people interact with one another, such as between coworkers, with customers, between supervisors and employees, and in personal relationships as well.  
Participants will leave with concrete methods for addressing conflict in their workplaces and in their lives.
