A musical is based on the similarly titled series of children's books by P. L. Travers and the 1964 Disney film, and is a fusion of various elements from the two. Families of all ages can enjoy this production together. Children should be able to sit next to their parent quietly for at least 1 hour.

The Filharmonic, a Filipino American group of young musicians, has tunes-a-plenty ready for their performance in the CWU SURC Ballroom at 8 p.m. on May 6! You might?ve seen the nationally known a capella group on NBC?s musical competition, ?The Sing-Off?, or sharing the stage with the likes of Linkin Park, The Black Eyed Peas and Pentatonix on a national tour. If you missed all those somehow, you still might?ve seen them in a little movie called Pitch Perfect 2. The event is a part of CWU?s Family Weekend but is open to the public at a cost of $7 per general admission ticket and $3 per CWU Student available at www.cwu.edu/tickets. Make sure you don?t miss their performance and they?ll make sure you?re treated to a special blend of head-bopping beat boxes.

Esteemed emcee and social justice activist, Jasiri X will be speaking and preforming at CWU May 3 at 7 p.m. in the SURC Ballroom. Jasiri X has toured colleges and universities around the country presenting innovative workshops, serving as a panelist and delivering keynote addresses. The event is free and open to all. Jasiri X is a modern millennium Civil Rights activist in addition to being an educator and musician. He has worked closely alongside his mentor, the singer and social activist Harry Belafonte, to address the social ills of today?s society in a multitude of public platforms. Jasiri X is the recipient of the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation Artist as Activist Fellowship, BMe Fellowship, The August Wilson Center for African-American culture fellowship and most recently chosen as a United States Cummings fellow. A new millennium leader and esteemed musician, Jasiri X has leveraged the power of hip hop and social media into his own brand of social change. Witness what has gained Jasiri X notoriety, his ability to succinctly address issues surrounding the disenfranchised of America via his hard hitting lyricism and powerful speeches.
