If you're looking for a great way to get outside, CWU Continuing Education's Fly Fishing 101 class is the perfect way to get started. In this class you will learn the basics of fly fishing! Throughout six sessions, students will learn how a fly rod works, how to correctly identify parts, as well as gain the ability to correctly choose a fly rod. Casting, mending (for both nymphing and dry flies), roll casting, how to properly identify insects and hatches on the river, how to read the water, and how to properly rig your fly rod up for nymphing and dry flies will also be covered in this exciting class that will occur both in the classroom and on the Yakima River! On the very last class, a contest will be held to test your knowledge and casting abilities that you have learned throughout the course. The top TWO students will be given a FREE half-day guide float trip down the Yakima with instructor, Nathan Schepker! Required Equipment* -Fly Rod and Reel (5wt recommended) Fly Line -Flies (Flies are seasonal, check with instructor or Worley Bugger Fly Co. for latest hatch). -Waders (optional but recommended) -Sunglasses (recommend polarized) -Indicators -Leaders/Tippet (3x leader/4x tippet is recommended) -Fly Floatant (Necessary for dry flies) *Don't have the required equipment?
