03/25/2017 - Grand Opening: Nielsen Gallery of Fine Art

Thu, 2017-03-09 20:00
The gallery will house an eclectic collection of primitive art fetched from a variety of countries and cultures, including sculptures, baskets, woven handiwork, pottery, paintings, and sculptures created from a variety of woods, stones and metals. This is a wonderful draw for people strolling the streets looking for interesting things to see. For instance, the gallery will have blowguns and spears on display, and a collection of maps dated from the 1700s. One of those, very old, is a map of all the silver, gold and copper mines in America. The gallery has four rooms and a reception area. One room serves as the main gallery, another houses romantic art. A theme room will be refreshed quarterly, and there is a room dedicated to the work of local artists decorated with tree bark to give it the Pacific Northwest look and feel.

Wed, 2017-03-08 20:00
About The Camp: The magic in every student comes to life as never before when they are empowered to be as creative as they were all born to be! In partnership with Black Rocket Productions, a company with over a decade of experience designing camps in the STEM and Digital Arts fields. STEM Cats is powered by the camper’s innate imagination and designed to bring their ideas to life in a fun, hands-on learning environment. Camps are divided into sections that are age appropriate and increase in complexity to challenge all to reach their full potential! STEM Cats will mirror real-life experiences and the collaborative nature of the creative process. Campers will work in pairs or sections for most of the design process and end the class with a finished product to take home and show family and friends. This youth camp will be hosted on the CWU Ellensburg campus, in the Multimodal Education Center. Camp will run, Monday- Friday, 9:00 am - 2:00 pm, throughout spring break from March 20th to March 24th and is designed for kids age 8 to 14.
