Washington State Standard 5.1

Visionary Leadership: A school or program administrator is an educational leader who has the knowledge, skills, and cultural competence to improve learning and achievement to ensure the success of each students by leading the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of a vision of learning that is shared and supported by school/program and community stakeholders.

Functions:

  1. Collaboratively develop and implement a shared vision and mission
  2. Collect and use data to identify goals, assess organizational effectiveness, and promote organizational learning
  3. Create and implement plans to achieve goals
  4. Promote continuous and sustainable improvement
  5. Monitor and evaluate progress and revise plans
  6. Demonstrate and reflect an understanding of the unique characteristics and cultural richness of the diverse ethnicities represented in the student
