The Board of Academic Appeals and the Academic Standing Council report to the Dean of Student Success. Carolyn Thurston, Director of Academic Success, facilitates both processes.
PURPOSE:
The purpose of the Academic Standing Council is to review Academic Suspension Appeals submitted by students who wish to be considered for probationary reinstatement to the University. The Council meets once a quarter (typically during the first week of the quarter for which students are wishing to be reinstated). The decision of the Council is final.
The Board of Academic Appeals (grievances) exists to provide for fair and impartial hearings of academic grievances, such as appealing a grade. The Board serves as the final hearing body for the university in the matter of academic grievances. The Board may direct the university to change an academic decision affecting the student and specify the content of that change.
