Amy McCoy

   Academic and Retention Advisor for Online Programs

Amy was born and raised in Southern California. She has lived in various states across the United States and made Washington her home, falling in love with the Pacific North West. During the Gulf War era, Amy served as a Combat Medic for the United States Army and received an honorable discharge.

Amy earned her Associates Degree in Environmental Studies from Tacoma Community College.  She transferred to Central Washington University where she earned a Masters of Arts degree in Geography.  During her senior year at CWU she served as the Student Board of Trustee and was awarded the Student Success Dean’s Award. Amy earned her Masters of Professional Studies; Homeland Security - Public Health Preparedness from Pennsylvania State University’s World Campus. Her thesis research involved communicating with and disseminating information to young adults through the use of technology and social media.

Having earned a Master’s Degree through an online academic program, Amy has learned the challenges and rewards of being an online student intimately.  She has experience in working with various online academic programs ranging from K-12 level institutions to co-advising for a graduate online program. She is excited to work exclusively with the Central Washington’s Web Campus student body.
