Academic Advising - Professional

Central Washington University Professional Advising provides all major-decided students with a common advising experience to ensure they receive the exposure and support needed to excel academically and achieve their educational goals.

Professional Advisors help students understand major specific requirements and provide assistance to those interested in pursuing future careers in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, or other professional health degrees. Professional Advising plays a vital role in student success at CWU and shares the responsibility with faculty and staff to facilitate strong rates of degree attainment and student retention.

Scott Carlton
Director of Advising, Professional Advising

Scott grew up in Ellensburg and attended CWU for all his undergraduate degrees and his masters.  He enjoyed attending CWU so much that he decided to work for the university.  He has been working at CWU for over 27 years and has been a Director of Advising for over fifteen of those years.

Claire Bickel
Office Assistant, Professional Advising

Claire grew up on Whidbey Island before making her way to Washington State University where she  earned a BA in Social Sciences.
She previously worked in Seattle before Ellensburg and the Central community drew her east of the mountains.
She supports the Professional Advising staff. You will speak with her or one of our student assistants when you come in for an appointment.
