March 20, 2003

VP Issues:

Rich reviewed the Board Meeting of 3/14/03 and the Cabinet meeting from this week.

One of the accounts in ITS is overspent due to charges paid for the student internet from the wrong account. Joe will work with Gene to arrange for payment of student related internet charges directly from the tech fee account.

Financial Services Issues:

Joe indicated that there is a change in air travel regulations coming out. The assistant attorney general has determined that individuals may go out and purchase air tickets from other vendors as long as they are cheaper than the state rate.

SAO management response (audit response) is being prepared for the board meeting.

Final draft of housing/dining and university financial statements should be ready by the end of next week.

Moody’s has informed us that they will be charging the university an annual fee for their services.

CTS Issues:

Gene shared a memo that will go out to the university community regarding New Computer Software Items for CWU users.

Over the next two months we are going into the most critical stage of the HR upgrade. We are running into some equipment problems and the schedule has had to be condensed. Parallel testing of payroll is due toward the end of April and the first part of May. Gene will be providing weekly updates. The software side of the implementation is moving along, the hardware side is waiting on hardware delivery. We have asked for a PeopleSoft consultant to be here for one week in May.

HR Issues:

Checkout Form – Ona indicated that we don’t catch temporaries, adjuncts, students, etc., as they leave the employ of CWU. Human Resources will be sending a reminder out that areas need to be making sure they check out these employees for computer access, keys, etc.

We have changed the date of the Annual Service Award program (date change: was to be May 6; now will be May 20) – Tunstall, from 1:15-4:15. Please plan to attend.

Tuition Waiver program for permanent employees– as of next quarter employees may register for up to 8 credits on a space available basis, up from 6 credits.

Social Security Card – HR is now asking that actual social security cards be presented at the time of hire for verification of name and number.

Facilities Management:

Brooklane Day Care – Bill reported that a grant has been awarded and has to be bid. There will be a meeting later today regarding this.

The McConnell Hall schedule for remodel is going to be very tight.

EIS:

There were 2900 attendees at the (HEUG) Users Group. PeopleSoft’s largest group of customers is higher ed.

Those that attended the HEUG conference will be doing a debrief on what they learned and what they are concerned about.

On 4/15 the EIS steering committee will be meeting.

Don distributed a printout of the new EIS web page.
