VP Issues:

Rich reviewed the Cabinet meeting of January 8, 2003.

Rich indicated that we will start working on the University Business Plan in February.

Rich asked about the status of setting up protected web sites. Gene indicated that if the university wants to set up protected sites, it can be easily done.

Rich distributed a sheet with information on HCA System change and proposed interface with our system. Gene will discuss this with Ona and Wendy.

Rich would like cost saving ideas by next Thursday.

Financial Services Issues:

State auditors have completed their audit.

The financial statements are being worked on.

New reports should be available soon.

We are setting up a schedule for this year’s close.

The next BAR meeting will be January 23 & 24.

Cash management – the interest rates have dropped; earnings will be down.

CTS Issues:

Gene indicated that many CTS employees are involved in the SA project and as a result, there is limited staff available to help with other problems.

HR Issues:

Bruce attended a meeting on insurance in Olympia yesterday and the projection is for another dramatic increase in the deductible. The suggestion is being looked at to set up a reserve system for losses.
