Vice President Business Council Minutes December 20, 2001 VP Issues: President Cabinet Notes – Rich reviewed the notes from the President’s Cabinet meeting. Budget – The Governor’s budget recommendation is to cut higher education by 5%. Upcoming City Contracts – Fire protection contract – Bill Vertrees, Rich Corona and representatives from the City of Ellensburg will be meeting in February. Financial Services Issues: The Moody visit (bond counsel) will be scheduled for January. Merchant card processing will be reviewed by a third party for the past year and provide recommendations for revisions. This will be done at no cost to the university. Bond counsel contracts are being developed. CTS Issues: WIN (information for students) 18,000 hits by students over the last two weeks. The latest release of WIN adds the ability to review the student's Academic Information. This includes current academic program, status, and residency in an Academic Profile page, GPA and degree/certification information in a Cumulative Profile page and a page showing Placement Exam results, as well as the ability to request CAPS reports (academic progress) directly from the WIN application. The K-20 line, which is maintained by the University of Washington, found a problem (frequent disconnects) on their line that has been fixed. This should improve internet service. Facilities Management:The fire alarm testing is proceeding in campus buildings.ESCO (energy saving program) – The replacing of lights with energy saving lights has helped to reduce the amount of mechanical cycles required to maintain appropriate temperature in the walk-in coolers. This is resulting in additional savings.Bill reported that the regulations regarding radio frequencies are changing and facilities will need to replace their communication radios in the near future. |
