Vice President Business Council Minutes October 4, 2001 VP Issues: Rich reviewed the September 26, 2001, and October 3, 2001, President’s Cabinet meetings. Beginning November 1, 2001, the local and long distance access code will change to 66. Telecom is working on a Route 66 PowerPoint presentation. The union and university are working to resolve some issues. Enrollment Celebration – There will be an open house on Wednesday, October 10, 2001, to celebrate the largest class ever enrolled at CWU. This will be held at the President’s Reception Center from 4-6 p.m. Everyone is invited. Rich reviewed the briefing points for the Board of Trustees’ sub-committees. Rich asked everyone to encourage his or her staff to respond to the university governance survey that Libby Street sent out. Rich stressed the importance of our division responding to requests for assistance in a timely manner. Financial Services Issues: Financial aid disbursement checks will be distributed today. The process is going well. The federal reimbursement ACH process scheduled to change in October has been postponed until January. Therefore, our current financial aid disbursement is not impacted. Due to the declining interest rates, we anticipate a significant drop in interest revenues. The State Auditors will be here on Monday, October 8, 2001, for the formal entrance conference. We anticipate budgets will be posted to FMS in mid October. Accounting is working on reports for fiscal year-end 2001 and for users of FMS. CTS Issues: Roland announced that voice-over IP is close to being implemented at Flight Tech. It is currently being tested within CTS. This, along with the switch over of data, is the first service of I-Net and is a cost reduction program. Voice-over IP is basically telephone service being run over data lines. This is not the same as using the Internet to call all over the country. This is only internal to the CWU network. Voice/IP telephones are required for this to work. Rich expects to internally post the Interim Director of CTS position early next week. In the absence of a director, Roland Tollefson is the acting director. Norman’s last day will be Wednesday, October 10.Facilities Management Issues:Governor’s Capital Budget Freeze – A list of current capital projects, encumbered funds, and signed contracts is being provided to OFM. Four projects may be affected. This summer, Facilities Management performed three times the amount of work in residence halls as in previous years. |
