MINUTES

Vice President Business Council

June 27, 2001

VP Issues:

Nasser reviewed the last President’s Cabinet meeting.

AVP Issues:

Brooklane Water – There was recently a broken water line at Brooklane Village. Concern was raised that tenants were not notified in a timely manner of possible pollution. In the future, the city will be called immediately for testing and the tenants will be informed promptly.

All Personnel Action Forms, including annual PAFs for exempt employees, are due to Human Resources by July 9 to prevent RETRO work in FMS.

Emergency preparedness information was sent to Jesse Days to be posted on the Web.

The bond financial consultant is expected to begin work July 2.

Freshman enrollment and housing occupancy continues to look strong for fall. Conference Center had their biggest check-in day ever. There were close to 1,500 participants in football camp, freshmen and parents, and state food workers.

Financial Services Issues:

FMS implementation celebration is being planned for July 6.

QUALF Budget Management – we will work with Mickey Parker, Christie Newbill, and the Budget Office to simplify the process.

2001-2002 tuition rates were distributed.

CTS Issues:

CTS will be taking the student and staff dial-up facilities (963-8000 & 963-8002 respectively) out of service from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, June 29. The outage will extend as needed into the weekend in the event it cannot be completed during the allotted time. The outage will only affect users who use a modem and telephone line to access the CWU network. Regular network access from university buildings will be unaffected. The purpose of the outage is to increase the capacity of the servers and to make call routing more cost effective. No action will be required on the part of users as a result of these changes.

CTS has received kudos from around campus for exemplary customer assistance. Recent compliments have come from Human Resources, Financial Aid, Wellness Center, and History. Keep up the good work!

Hogue auto-cad lab is up and running. Thanks to Facilities for helping with the acquisition of software for this lab.

Dial 8 – Due to the high volume of erroneous 911 calls coming from on-campus, the dial-out number will be changed from 9 to 8. This will occur sometime during fall quarter.

ASSP Issues:

Jana Kruckenberg conducted two FMS overview presentations recently and a third is being scheduled. 156 people were in attendance. Thanks to Jana for a great job!

Facilities Management:

The city recently signed an agreement with BPA to reduce energy consumption. CWU will sign a similar agreement with the city.

Lighting replacement will begin soon to install more energy efficient lighting around campus.
