Vice President Business Council Minutes April 10, 2001 VP Issues: The council discussed the policy and standards regarding computer equipment that will be supported by CTS for the University. Problem with grant purchased equipment that eventually ends up being state support for repairs and maintenance. This will be brought before the Cabinet. Nasser reviewed the Performance Based Budget status. AVP Issues: Kamola Funding – Joe will contact Olympia for options for funding on the Kamola remodel. Inspection by State Department of Health - Radiation Safety Division - Perfect Score! Congratulations to Environmental Health & Safety! Space in Old Heat and Public Safety building – Bill, Rich and Norman will meet to discuss allocation of the space in the Old Heating Plant and the Public Safety Building. Financial Services Issues: S&A finances will be discussed on Friday morning before the Board meeting (Joe will be attending). Bill will be attending the Student Affairs Committee meeting; Rich and Nasser will be attending the Resources Committee. It is planned to invite Brailsford to the May Board meeting. CTS Issues: NWACC awards to Professors Lonowski and Polishook of Central: Dear Dr. Lonowski, On behalf of the Northwest Academic Computing Consortium, it is my pleasure to inform you that you are a recipient of a $50,000 Technology Collaboration award from NWACC. Congratulations on submitting an excellent proposal. Dear Dr. Polishook, On behalf of the Northwest Academic Computing Consortium, it is my pleasure to inform you that you are a recipient of a $10,000 Proof of Concept award from NWACC. Congratulations on submitting an excellent proposal. The long distance RFP is in the process of being reviewed (three proposals). Norman will report back on the results. Washington Service Corps conference is being held on campus. CTS is supporting their computing needs. The following note was received by CTS: Hello Jim: …..Thank you for being there and giving me the necessary directions in using your computer set-up for the Washington Service Corp training sessions. You and your assistants were very helpful and ready with just the right information so that the training sessions proceeded smoothly. You have a terrific facility, really a dream facility, given the range of facilities I have had to use. Please pass the word along to your assistants; I will jump at the opportunity to work again with you and the CWU computer lab, anytime! Jane Field Norman will be on vacation from Thursday through Tuesday, return on Wednesday. NCATE support – CTS is providing support for the NCATE visit. SUN Microsystems is offering matching grants – buy one get one free on certain pieces of equipment (distributed flyer). Bill will discuss possible purchases with Norman. Facilities Management:QUALF bldg – Bill indicated that we need to discuss future maintenance and how it will be handled for this multi-service building – (Building management group). This will be a student owned building. |
