VP Issues:

Nasser reviewed the Cabinet meeting.

During the break Facilities will be checking the outdoor lights around the residence halls to make sure they are all in working order.

Nasser will be in Olympia next Thursday (March 22) to testify at the Legislature.

Facilities Management will have a representative at the tenant association meetings starting next quarter.

On March 28 Nasser will be in Pullman for WSU’s presidential inauguration.

Joe will review proposed HB1743 (tuition bill) and report back to Nasser.

Nasser requested feedback by April 9 on the report produced by the Synthesizing committee.

AVP Issues:

Joint Labor Relations Committee (JLRC) – Rich informed the council that the union expressed concern about the proposed parking fees. Rich is scheduling open forums for the campus community to review the proposed fee increases.

EFT – A letter regarding EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) was discussed and supported at JLRC and will be sent out to the campus community. All employees are encouraged to participate in EFT.

The meetings with the tenant associations to discuss the proposed room and board rates for the next two years are scheduled.

The Employee Council has extended an invitation to the Exempt staff to participate in the Appreciation Awards ceremony scheduled for May 24. The Exempt Association appreciates and accepts the invitation.

Rich reported that the TABS group has no problem with switching to the dialing all seven digits for all numbers to alleviate the 911 problem. – CTS will get information to Nasser about cost involved to switch. This will be brought back to the council.

Financial Services Issues:

Tax exempt parking reduction – Joe informed the council that there is an IRS law that says if you have your parking permit fee paid as a payroll deduction, it may be used as an employment expense and reduce your taxable income. This will be researched.

FMS - Go-live target date is July 1, 2001 (Financials Module) – A time line is being developed and we hope to have it available by the end of next week.

System integration test phase has been completed and the CWU Financials modules set up a test to run on the new system -- PO test ran; budget test ran; posted encumbrance; invoiced; receiving; cut check; transaction worked. We still need to do interfacing; reports; training; and more

CTS Issues:

Repair of fiber in Vault S19B for ResNet is on schedule.

Continuous power for the computers in Cat Center. Bill Vertrees should have a proposal next month.

Jim Price will receive his BA in Computer Science this quarter. He will continue to work as a Systems Analyst programmer in CTS.

Wireless phones on campus switch for campus use only - Vendor presentation will be on Tuesday 3/20. Information will be forwarded when available.

Voice Over IP (VOIP) presentation by Alcatel will be on Friday 3/16 at 10 am.

New computers for Hogue Lab are on order. This has been a joint project with FMD. They are anticipated to be here in a couple of weeks.

Facilities Management:

The “Conflict to Collaboration” training session scheduled for yesterday afternoon for Facilities Management has been rescheduled for March 28.

Edmonds project may be bid next week. Authority has been granted previously.

Rich and Bill are involved in a meeting on Thursday regarding the Brooklane Well.

Facilities is reviewing the requirements (safety and codes) for opening Kamola Hall fall quarter 2002.
