VP Issues:

Nasser reviewed the Cabinet meeting of February 22.

Nasser reminded the council that the institution needs to become proactive in planning for the possible budget cut anticipated for July 2001.

AVP Issues:

Financial Services Issues:

Financials project is progressing and working on problems.

Query training is going to be held on campus using our data. This will give our team an opportunity to see how the system will work with our data rather than using “training data.”

CTS Issues:

Dial 9 problem – Norman reported that one possible solution to the 911 dialing error problem is to use the seven digit dialing system for all calls; long distance would then only require an additional 1. This will be looked at for possible implementation soon.

Norman would like council reaction to the proposed Telco Business Plan.

Norman has received a proposal from Financial Aid that all students during orientation would fill out the I-9 form and be issued a card for employment purposes. This would mean that the I-9 form would be completed and be on file for all students if and when they became employed at Central through student employment. This could eliminate problems for students wanting employment later in the year.

I-Net feedback – It is anticipated that I-Net will be operational in about two-three months. Ongoing costs are anticipated to be around $72,000/year. Our portion of this cost may be able to be covered by in-kind services. We will look into this.

Measurable Units – Norman submitted the measurable units for CTS for the performance based budget process.

Facilities Management:

Bonneville Power is offering cash grants for energy conservation projects.  FMD is preparing at least three projects for submission.
