Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
The Washington State Employee Assistance Program (EAP) helps with personal or work-related problems that may be impacting your work performance. The service is voluntary, confidential, and available to all state employees and their family members. You can contact the EAP directly at (877) 313-4455, through your supervisor, human resources department, or union representative. Although, supervisors cannot force employees to seek assistance, the process of recognizing problem situations and responding with an EAP referral is a normal and expected supervisory task. The EAP is a valuable resource for assisting supervisors and managers with individual and organizational concerns. Getting expert help to assist workers in solving their personal problems is simply good business.
The EAP consultants are available to provide confidential and expert consultation in a variety of areas including:
- Effectively talking with employees about their performance problems
- Assisting with ideas to reinforce acceptable behavior and performance
- Discussing strategies for difficult communications with employees
- Managing conflict among employees and in the workplace
- Assistance in managing threats of violence
- Response to critical incidents including: sudden death of a coworker; homicide, accidents, earthquakes, and other sudden and unexpected terrible events that affect the workplace
CLASS SCHEDULING - Dates, times, and locations of upcoming training can be obtained by calling the EAP directly at (877) 313-4455 or the Human Resources Department at (509) 963-1202.
