Objectives

  1. Define the select-then-do methodology; describe several shortcuts with the mouse and/or the keyboard to select text.

  2. Move and copy text within a document; distinguish between the Windows clipboard and the Office clipboard.

  3. Use the Find and Replace commands to substitute one character string for another.

  4. Define scrolling; scroll to the beginning and end of a document.

  5. Distinguish between the Normal and Print Layout views; state how to change the view and/or magnification of a document.

  6. Define typography; distinguish between a serif and a sans serif typeface; use the Format Font command to change the font and/or type size.

  7. Use the Format Paragraph command to change line spacing, alignment, tabs, and indents, and to control pagination.

  8. Use the Borders and Shading command to box and shade text.

  9. Describe the Undo and Redo commands and how they are related to one another.

  10. Use the Page Setup command to change the margins and/or orientation; differentiate between a soft and a hard page break.

  11. Enter and edit text in columns; change the column structure of a document through section formatting.
