Northwest Drama Conference Web Site

The goals of the Northwest Drama Conference are:

  • to encourage the highest possible standards of theatre throughout the Pacific Northwest and
  • to facilitate the interchange of theatre groups, persons and ideas through an annual conference.
 

News Flash

The Northwest Drama Conference in conjunction with the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival  is pleased to announce the new  Northwest Drama Conference Musical Theatre Scholarship Audition

The Northwest Drama Conference (NWDC) Musical Theatre Scholarship Audition (MTSA) takes place at the regional NWDC/KCACTF (Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival) which is being held at the University of Idaho this year February 16-20.

You must also register for the Festival.
The NWDC/MTSA will be held either Monday or Tuesday of the Festival (to be scheduled in the next month or so.) We encourage participation in the weeklong Festival/Conference of shows, workshops and events for student playwrights, designers, directors, dramaturges etc. but it is permitted to register for the Festival and only attend your event. Northwest Drama Conference Musical Theatre Scholarship Audition
- Each student has 5 minutes to perform 2 contrasting songs
- The songs must be sung live, students must bring sheet music markedand ready to be played by the accompanist provided or you may bring your own accompanist.

Notes:

- This is an audition. Enter, go right to the accompanist and give her/him your music, and go over the tempo. Set your chair if needed. - State your name and the names of your two pieces, nod to the accompanist and begin. Timing will begin with the first note of your music.
- Show a range of musical theatre styles in your selections
- Although movement is important and you may incorporate dance, you will not be performing on a dance floor. Tap shoes are not permitted.
- Chose songs that show your range and are different in type and style. Be sure you know who you are singing to and remember to find and play your objective.
- Be sure your music is clean and clear and easily read by the accompanist.
