Attendance at a bi-weekly student convocation hour is required
of all students enrolled for music lessons. The first convo is
Thursday, September 25th, at 2 PM, and lasts for one hour. Attendance
at the first convo is EXTREMELY important, as much will be explained about
our department to all students at that time. Studio gatherings occur
on alternating weeks with
Convocation weeks.Visit the convo/studio schedule page for all the dates. They
will be available soon on the Student Resources page, as well as being posted throughout
the
building and handed out at the first convo. Please be sure to read and know the Convo and Recital Polices. This is a MUST! |
The Music student handbooks are available online and are FULL of all of the information
you need before embarking on your musical education here at Central. Be sure to read the undergraduate handbook before
classes begin. If you are involved in the Jazz program you should also download and read the BA Jazz Handbook PDF. |
Instrument lockers within the music building are available for students. Some of these lockers are used to store University owned instruments that are also available for student checkout. Students needing lockers and/or instruments must do so with Allen Larsen, Music Department Hall Manager, in his office, room 173 (directly across
from the percussion wing.) A minimal fee for locker use will be
charged to your student account. You are responsible to know and understand the Locker Check Out / Return Polices so please be sure to review them. |
The Music 104 Orientation Session will be held on (to be announced soon), and will last for approximately one hour.
ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED of all
freshmen entering the music program.
Lessons: Your music student handbook outlines your lesson requirements. You will schedule
your lesson times directly with your lesson teacher, who is also your university
advisor (Music Education majors will have a second advisor assigned to them
who specializes in Music Education). You must have a permission code to register
for your lesson classes, and the codes will be given to you by your teacher
when you meet to arrange your lessons.
Also: If you are an incoming music student and have NOT auditioned for acceptance into the music
department, you need to set up an audition immediately. Contact the music office at 509-963-1216 for details. |
