CWU Chamber Choir
Chamber Choir, the premier choral ensemble at CWU, is open to students who are at a sophomore level or higher. The choir rehearses five hours weekly with an additional one hour sectional outside of class. With an emphasis on musical excellence a full academic year commitment is required.
Chamber Choir places a premium on individual musicianship and high standards of musicality through regular individual part checks. Exploring a wide variety of repertoire yearly, careful consideration given to performing music of various periods in the style appropriate to that area.
Known throughout the Northwest the Chamber Choir has made appearances at various local and regional conventions as well as presenting concerts on various tours. Recent events of significance include a world premiere of five fino-ugrian folk songs in 2007, singing Stravinsky’s Symphony of Psalms in 2007, having been chosen to sing at the state music educators convention (WMEA) in 2008, and joining with University Chorale and University Symphony Orchestra to present Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music in May, 2008.
