1.  Pacman Tag

    This is a game where the students have to stay on the lines of either and gym floor of a football field.
Make sure you designate which lines you want your students to use.  Everyone must remain on the lines at all times, even the person that is it.  Everyone moves around on the lines one foot in front of the other, working on balancing on the line while on motion.  Have fun, it's not to hard.  Just think about how the video game is played.
 

2.  Water Volleyball
 

    This game is a good way to get your students used to the water.  Make an imaginary line in the water.
Have half the students on one side of the line and half on the other side of the line.  Throw in a beach ball and let them play.  Make sure you let the students know that every student must touch the ball!
 

3.  KICK BOARD STUNTS

    OBJECTIVES:  Balance, coordination, confidence, variety in stroking skills.

    PREREQUISITE SKILLS:  Front and back flips require submersion and ability to exhale through the nose.  All other stunts can be done by swimmers or non swimmers.

    WATER DEPTH:   Maximum, chest deep.

    EQUIPMENT: One kick board for each student

    DESCRIPTION:    Begin by placing the board behind the knees and balancing on it in a sitting position.  Perform variations or create new variations.

    VARIATIONS:

    * Sit on the board and spin in a circle.
    * Sit  on  the board and "row your boat."  Use breaststroke pulls or         crawl stroke pulls or variations of sculling.
    * Perform a front back flip.  Squeeze the board behind the knees and perform the flip using the arms to pull in the direction opposite the flip.
 

4.  Water Polo

    OBJECTIVES:  Socialization, independent locomotion in deep water using a life jacket, cardiovascular fitness.

    PREREQUISITE SKILLS:  Ability to swim on front and back in deep water using a life jacket,
throwing and catching.

    WATER DEPTH: Minimum, 6 feet.

    EQUIPMENT:  Beach ball, two goals, life jacket for each participant.

    DESCRIPTION:  Use standard water polo rules.  To begin play, the referee tosses the ball up between two teams who try to retrieve it and advance it to score a goal.  One point is awarded for each goal.  After
a goal the is put in play as in the begining of the game.
