Course Outline

Instructor:
Chad Sage

During this course I will introduce windsurfing to the class which is probably new to most of you and it is definitely exciting.  We will be starting our classes at the beach downtown.  All the necessary equipment will be provided if needed but if anyone has there own equipment feel free to bring it.  The weather may be our only hindering factor so come to class everyday prepared to either go get wet or stay dry.
There will be a total of six basic lessons to get everyone up on the board and able to maneuver around in light wind.  On top of the six lessons we will be choosing one day which has a little bit stronger wind to go out and experience the power of the wind and the sail.

Students Learning Objectives:
Students will understand and be able to use all equipment
Students will be able to mount the board with proper technique
Students will be able to uphaul the sail while maintaining proper position and balance
Students will be able to maneuver the board in light winds in all directions (this is called tacking)

Assessment:
Participation is mandatory to pass the windsurfing portion of the class.  I will offer one make-up session if someone has missed because of an excused reason.  There will also be an assessment of skill performance.

Grading Scale:
90-100%=A
80-90%=B
70-80%=C
60-70%=D
Below 60%=F
