When you are lost or hurt the first thing that you need to do is find shelter. This is to protect you from wind, rain and just about any other weather condition around. The best shelters are your natural shelters. They would be your caves, hollowed out trees, boulders and fallen trees.
How to make a shelter:
First you will need to find a good spot that will drain and not get anything blown onto them. Natural spots would be your caves, hollowed out trees and rocks that stick out.
Next you will need to make sure you have enough natural supplies to build one. If you are in the forest, there are a lot of fallen trees that could be used for putting up walls. If you take a fallen tree and lay a bunch of branches up against it would make for a nice shelter. Less work would have to be put into it. To help make it waterproof and block the wind more, you would want to weave boughs of branches in and out of the branches leaning up against the fallen log.
Make sure that your shelter is near an open area so that if an aircraft goes by they might be able to see you and help you out. You also would want to be near water if possible. This way you don’t have to exert energy to go get supplies to survive.
If you are in the snow, you can build adobes. These are holes in the snow that is just big enough for you to fit in. This will help you block out the wind and coldness. Your body heat will warm up the area and it will help you last longer. If you can you would want to put some type of branch or leaves under you to give you a little heat barrier.
