Topic: Rescue Signaling
Concepts: Figure out how to make signals to save themselves.
Skills: Learn to be resourceful and directional.
Objectives: Students will learn how to make signals for rescuers or other people to find them and help them out.
Lesson activities: (mirrors, fires, rocks, leaves, sticks.)
We will go over the different ways of making a signal in the classroom where they will get a handout on the different signals. Then the students will be able to practice and learn the different rescuing signals with different materials outside in activity. First the students will pair up, each with a mirror and have them practice aiming the sun towards their partner. Next they will take the pairs and group up with another pair and practice making smoke signals. Finally the groups of four will each get a specific rescue signal to make. They will also be told what materials are in their surroundings and that is how they are to make the signal.
