DAILY LESSON PLANS

Topic: Survival

Concepts: Basic survival, safety and getting back to civilization or camp.

Skills: fire and shelter building, food and water knowledge.

Rationale: Students will want to learn how to survive in emergency situations because they are interested in staying alive.

Students need to learn about survival because it is a building block for the pursuit of many outdoor lifetime hobbies. Many students live in an area where there are abundant opportunities for outdoor recreation in which they need to know how to survive, whether it is in an emergency situation or not.

Learning about survival can be connected with, transferred to, or integrated with biology, geography (social studies), chemistry and daily living skills.
