Diving Developmental Analysis

The following are common topics that need to be covered when diving. For each is a Refinement and an Application. By using these it will help the students to realize how to complete each of the desired tasks.

Extension Refinement Application
Bouncing high off the board Jump like you are trying to touch the sky Try to see just how high you can jump
Diving head first Try and do a handstand on top of the water See how many good dives you can do in a row
Tucking into a flip Tuck like you are trying to curl up in a little ball Try to spin as fast as you can with your flips
Speed tucks The smaller the ball you make the faster your rotations will be See just how fast you are able to do a flip and then untuck from it.
Back jumps for height Press down on the board like you are trying to make it touch the water Try and get the board as low as you can
Getting non-jumping let high on the hurdle Try and make a 90 degree corner at your hip See if you can make 90 degrees 5 times in a row
Keeping body tight upon entry Imagine that the water is freezing so you have to brace yourself for the feezing cold water. Try and stay tight on your next 5 dives
