Informing Task: I would like for you and your
partner to begin throwing the ball back and forth. |
Have the class circle around you while you demonstrate to
them the correct form of a legal throw-in. Then have then find a partner and
have one ball between them. Have them start out 10 feet apart and facing each
other. Also have them start with both knees on the ground. |
1. Have one partner take a few steps back. |
Really work on bringing the ball completely behind the
head. |
Have feet shoulder width apart and firmly planted on the
ground. They must remain in one place. No stepping or hopping before throw. |
2. Now throw from a standing position. |
Concentrate on the snap of your torso. Your abs should
remain tight. Don’t have too much of an arch in your back. |
They may step back more if they would like. Put all the
steps into one motion. They may use a step or hop or they may keep both feet
planted on the ground. As long as it’s legal. |
3. Practice throw-ins using the whole range of
motion. |
Pay attention to your footwork and what feels more
comfortable to you. (staying planted or dragging your back foot). |
See if you can throw the ball in and hit your partner below
the knee 5 out of 10 tries. |
Informing Task: While holding their bar handles
have them pull their head and upper body through the bar handles on the
whistle. |
Have everyone lie on the ground on their backs with their
knees bent and their feet planted on the ground. Have them raise their arms
in the air and pretend like they are holding on to bar handles on a bike.
With their same partners have them get about 10ft apart, knees on the ground. |
1. Begin tossing the ball underhand to your partner while
they try to head it back to you. Do 5 then switch roles. |
Keep arms a little more than shoulder width apart. |
2. Now stand up and continue to do the same thing. |
Remember to attack through your handle bars. |
See how times you can head it to your partner’s hands out
of 10 tries. |
3. Have the partner who is throwing use a legal throw in
while the other partner tries to head it back. |
See how far apart you and your partner can get. |
