         Skill Development                     Organization/Managt.                      Teaching Cues
Day 1:
Handling of the Paintball Weapon:
     Recognizing the parts of the
     weapon-
There are various parts of a paintball weapon that one must learn. Point to various parts of the weapon, and name each part:  Barrel, Trigger, CO2 loading device, Paintball loader, barrel plug, cocking mechanism, safety switch and the targeting sight.
Holding the weapon -  The weapon has a natural contour whether held by a right or left handed person. Place the weapon in your hands, and switch hands to feel which grip is stronger, and which hand allows you to use the most accuracy.
     Using the safety switch -
     Using the barrel plug-
The safety switch is used to prevent the weapon from discharging, and the barrel plug is an additional safety procaution to ensure that the paintballs to don leave the chamber. When the switch shows the color "red", the weapon is ready to fire.
Always have the safety on and the barrel plug in the weapon when not in use, or when transporting.
Day 2:
Loading the Paintball Weapon:
     Loading the paintballs -
Caution must be used when handling the fragile paintballs. Place the gun in safety mode by placing the safety switch on, and placing the barrel plug in.  Take the paintball loader tube, and place ten paintballs into it.  Then you insert the tube into the slot on top of the weapon.
Loading the CO2 cartridge - Extreme caution must be used when handling Carbon Dioxide cartridges.  They are under constant pressure and improper handling could cause the cartridge to rupture. While the gun is in safety mode, unscrew the CO2 cap located on the underside of the grip.  Slide a CO2 cartridge into the slot, and gently place the cap back into place.  Then proceed to screw in the cap until it stops.  The CO2 should be ready to fire.
Examining the Safety Equipment:
     Using the Safety Helmet -
These helmets are safety tested to protect ones face, neck, and head from injury.  A hit to the head while wearing one of these will result in no injury.  A helmet must be worn at all times while involved in the sport of paintball. Place the helmet on to feel for a correct fit.  Adjust the straps located on the back to ensure a snug fit on the head.
Using kneepads and elbowpads -  Kneepads and Elbowpads help to protect the joints from injury, and allow players to get close to the ground without the worry of hurting oneself. Like the helmet, place the kneepads, and elbowpads on adjusting the straps until a snug feel is acheived.
Day 3:
     Short Quiz-
     Weapon Preparation Test-
These tests will examine the ability of the students.  If students cannot pass with a 95% or better, they will have to retake the test, and will not be able to shoot a weapon until retake is done. Follow instructions given by the teacher to complete both tests.
In the Weapon Preparation test, students will have to properly load and unload a paintball weapon, while taking all of the safety precautions listed above.
Day 4:
     To consistantly hit stationary
     targets-
The ability to aim the weapon effectively will help with increasing distances.  This could take more than one day to accomplish. Shoot at various targets at variable distances.
Day 5:
     Begin shooting skill test-
This test will examine the students ability to properly aim and fire the paintball weapon. In the shooting test, students must successfully hit 6 of 10 stationary targets.  Then the students will have the chance to tag their instructor.  If the instructor is hit by 50% of the students, then full blown warfare will commence.
