Grading Rubric for Final Assessment

    The final assessment is worth 25 points toward the overall grade for this unit.  Each category has a point value of 5 points.  This evaluation sheet assumes a course of 6 control points which an advanced orienteer could finish in less than 1 hour.  You will need to make adjustments according to the level of difficulty of your particular course.  If you have a student who is physically unable to participate in this orienteering event, you could have them be an official for the event and grade them on a separate scale.

    4:  acted safely most of the time
    3:  lack of adherence to safety procedures could cause this person to put him or herself into a compromising position
    2:  lack of adherence to safety procedures could cause harm to another person
    1:  unaware of safety procedures
