The Bunny Hop

The bunny hop
is an advanced move but with practiced it can be learned. A bunny hop is
a technique where the bike is jumped straight up in the air with both tires off
the ground, while moving, in order to clear a branch, a rut, stone, ditch, or
other obstacle. The better you get the higher and longer you can hop.
- Find some flat terrain. Pedal at a
rate that is comfortable: not too fast or not too slow.
- Bend the elbows and knees: crouch the
body down toward the top tube of your bike. The tighter the crouch
the more power you can generate for the hop.
- Extend the body upward in a quick, fluid
lunge. Extend the arms and knees until they are straight.
- Pull your body tight again, brunging the
bike up toward your chest.
- You should become airborne. Once
the apex of the hop has been reached, push the bike down and sink toward
the frame as you come back to earth.
