Class Meets: Daily (M-F) Location: Soccer Field

Unit Description:

This unit is designed to prepare students with the knowledge and skills required to competently and enjoyably participate in the game of lacrosse.
 
 

Unit Outcome:

As a result of participation in this class students should be able to:

  1. explain the basic history, rules, and terminology of lacrosse.
  2. demonstrate competency in basic lacrosse fundamentals.
  3. perform drills and tasks to enhance their performance in lacrosse.
  4. demonstrate the ability to use the learned skills in game situations.
Unit Content:
  1. History, rules, and terminology of lacrosse
  2. Lacrosse fundamentals
  3. Learn and practice the fundamentals using drills and task cards
  4. Learn and practice the fundamentals in a game like situation
Methods of Presentation:
  1. Lecture
  2. Soccer field demonstrations
  3. On field practice
Unit Evaluation:
  1. Assessment of Written Knowledge = 5%
  1. Short Test
- History, rules, and terminology
 
 

2. Performance Checklist = 10%

A. Two checklist evaluations

- Checklist 1, initial evaluation (feedback provided)

- Checklist 2, final evaluation
 
 

3. Participation = 80%

A. Participation and classroom attendance
 
 

4. Personal Assessment = 5%

A. Respect others, no negative attitude

B. Encourage the success of others
 
 

5. Grading Scale:

90% - 100% = A

78% - 89.9% = B

65% - 77.9% = C

50% - 64.9% = D

Below 50% = F
