In-line Skating Course Outline

Date/Time:    Tuesday/Thursday at 10:00-10:50
Location:       High School Main Gym

Course Objective
This class is designed to introduce in-line skating to you. Because of its popularity, more people are interested in learning how to in-line skate, but don’t know where to start. Well, that is why this class is offered. During this class, you will learn not only basic skating skills, but the benefits of in-line skating, use of protective equipment and places you can skate.

Equipment
one pair of in-line skates     elbow pads
helmet                                   wrist guards
knee pads

* Equipment will be provided for you by an in-line skating company.

Attendance
Attendance is very vital to becoming a successful in-line skater. 5 points are awarded on a daily basis, therefore you can raise or lower your final grade considerably. Also, being in class everyday will help you improve your in-line skating skills.

Grading Policy
The grading policy will be based upon a total point system. There is no curve. You can make or break you own grade as you are not grade against anyone else in the class. Keep track of your points!

Test (written) 25%
Skills Test (practical) 25%

Students total points
Total points possible = % grade                 Example: 275 = .916 or 92% = A-
