1. PAC man Tag
This is
a game where the students have to stay on the lines of either and gym floor
of a football field.
Make sure you designate which lines you want your students
to use. Everyone must remain on the lines at all times, even the
person that is it. Everyone moves around on the lines one foot in
front of the other, working on balancing on the line while on motion.
It will also get your legs warmed up for footbag. Have fun, it's
not to hard. Just think about how the video game is played.
2. Soccer Kickball
Equipment - 1 nerf ball, 2 cones, 2 bases
Grade level - 4-6
Divide the class into even teams. One team is up
to kick and the other in the
field. Everyone on the kicking teams kicks before
they go out into the
field. One base is placed in the field (as far
out as the age level
permits). Two cones are placed approx. 4 feet on
either side of home
base (this too, depends on the age level of the students).
The kicker
kicks a stationary ball from home plate and then runs
out to 1st base
and back to home - s/he may not stop on 1st base.
The fielding tries
to kick the kicked ball through the cones before the
runner gets
back to home base. The fielding team may not use
their hands to play
the ball. If they do, it is an automatic point for the
kicking team. If the kicker
makes it back home before the ball is kicked through
the cones, the kicking team gets
a point. If the fielding team kicks the ball through
the cones before
the kicker gets back to home, it is no point. The
game goes fairly fast
and everybody gets a chance to kick and field the ball.

3. Gator Tag
Eqiupment: One or two gator balls or foam balls
This activity uses designated boundaries and uses a gator ball in the hand of a tagger. The tagger must not throw the ball but must tag with the ball in hand. The person that they tag then becomes the tagger. This activity warms up the legs and gets you ready to play footbag.
4. Jewels in the Crown
Equipment needed: 4 hula hoops, 10 bean-bags, 10 small foam balls, 5 gator balls
This activity requires some hula hoops
and a variety of different types of balls and beanbags to symbolize jewels.
Place the hoops a ways apart and place an equal number of jewels in each
crown (hula hoop). Then divide the class up so that there are students
at each hoop. The object is to steal the jewels from the other groups
crowns. This game is exciting and competitive and it will go on forever
if you let it. This will get everyone warmed up and ready to play
footbag.
