Students gathered in area that is maker off for the activity.  Stay within the boundaries.

Lesson is on the technique of Up stacking and Down stacking. 
Gather in front of the teacher  Individual Performance

Up stacking

1.  Give the students each 12 plastic cups.  Then give them time to play with the cups and experiment with the cups.

2.  Have the students use all their cups, but this time they can only use three cups for every stack.  So at the end the will have a tootle of four stacks. 

Down stacking 

1.  Have students use all their cups, but this time they can only use three cups for every stack.  So they will have four stacks again.  With a stop watch time the students stack them up and stack them down.  Ask them to see how many times they can stack their cups. 

2.  Introduce stacking from left to right or right to left.

1.  How high can you stack the cups without having them fumble. 

2.  How fast can you stack them into four stacks of cups. 
 

1.  Up stack and down stack, try not to fumble (individual performance).

2.  "right to left" or "left to right"
