Course Description:
The Purpose of this unit is to introduce to elementary students the exiting sport of cup-stacking. The unit will integrate physical education, hand eye coordination, ambidexterity, quickness and concentration. The students will be introduced to this fun alternative activity and be able to challenge their own ability when it comes to cup-stacking.
Cup stacking is a sport where students stack and unstack a set of 12 plastic cups in predetermined sequence at a very quick speed. This sport will help when it comes to the other sports like basket ball and baseball. Also activities such as playing an instrument or working on the computer.
At the end of this unit we hope to carry on the exciting sport of cup-stacking and make it available to the students who care to take it to the next level, to come and join us after school. This is a great sport and
Objectives
Students will demonstrate there capabilities in the following areas:
* Demonstrate the different techniques of cup-stacking and integrate them in with Physical Education.
* Build self-confidence
* Demonstrate the basic level of cup-stacking
* To get an after school activity time started for cup-stacking
* Build hand eye coordination
* To improve and over come challenges
Assessment
Every student will be graded on their participation and improvement. Each student will be asked to have a notebook for this unit. They will set a realistic goal with in their range of cup-stacking. After each lesson the students will take their notebook home and write about what the accomplished and if they didn't reach their goal what can they do different next time. I will be collecting these notebook periodically to see if everyone is participating. I will also keep a goal sheet for my self to keep tally. The student may ask about their own work at anytime.
Grading
90-100% = A
80-89% = B
70-79 = C
60-69 = D
less than 59%= F
(+ and - grades will be assigned to the top and the bottom three points
within each range. E.g., 76% = C+)
