1. Tag
Like regular tag but everyone is "IT." Condition so everyone does
a fast walk, and limit the risk of injury. Freeze when tagged.
Can release by crawling through legs of tagged people. Game ends
when everyone is tagged. Interesting to point out that game is over
(so is the fun) when you succeed in getting everyone tagged.
2. Smiling Game
Two teams line up facing each other with 2 yard gap between teams.
One person from each team goes to the head of line of opposite team and
must walk down through the middle past each member of the opposite team.
Team members must try to make the walking person smile. They cannot
touch the person. If person he or she has to join the other team..
3. Name Game
Form a circle and begin tossing an object around the circle. Variations
include (1) call your own name as you catch the object, (2) call the name
of the person you pass to, (3) pass, then call the name of another person.
Ex. Pass, call "Mark" then pass to Sally. Sally has to catch
the object, pass it to Mark but call out the name of another person.
4. Circle Sequence Pass
Form a circle. Begin passing one object. As soon as you pass
put your hands behind your back. This establishes a passing sequence
once everyone has hands behind back. Now have them pass one object
again in this sequence. Can add objects so that 2, 3, 4, etc. objects
(up to the number of people in the group) are being passed..
5. Log Fall
Form circle with one member in the middle. This is a trust game.
Person crosses hands over chest, keeps body stiff, and falls to be supported
by members of the circle. Can begin when middle person asks, "Catchers
ready? Catchers should respond "Ready" and the game begins.
Everyone should take a tern..
6. Rescue Relay (P153)
File formation with first rescuer facing team about 20'-30' away behind
"safe" area. On "Go" rescuer runs to team and rescues next player
by hand. Together they run to safety. Person who was rescued
returns to team to rescue third person. Third rescues fourth etc.
until all have been rescued.
7. Rowbboat (P185)
Begins as 2 person event but more can add. Partners sit on floor
one behind another. Back person places feet around body and onto
lap of front person. To move both lift bodies with hands and arms
and move backwards. Motion resemble rowing. Front person can
also push with feet. As skill is mastered add more people to group.
8. Human Hurdle
Team lies on backs in circle with heads toward middle. Players number
off. On signal, player #1 stands and runs around circle learping
over each person (between waist and knees ) back to place. Player
#2 then goes. First team to finish.
