Overview and Introduction:
The purpose of this unit is to teach students the fundamentals of bowling.
Bowling can be considered a life-long sport. I feel it is important for
students to learn enough about the sport, so that it will spark an interest
to keep them bowling throughout their entire lives.
Student
Learning Objectives: (As outlined in the Washington
State Essential Academic Learning Requirements under Health & Fitness
and the National Standards for Physical Education: Moving into the Future).

concepts & principles to the learning & development of motor skills
-

-

understanding & respect for differences among people in physical activity

Assessment:
Students will be able to earn up to 10 participation points a day, depending
on their level of effort put forth. If students are participating
to their fullest ability, they will receive the full 10 points. If
students are off-task, but participating, they will receive 5 points.
If students have no interest in participating, they will receive 0 points
for the day.
Students will have two pop quizzes throughout the unit, an end of the unit
skills test, and a written examination over the important aspects of bowling,
as decided upon by the teacher.
Students are expected to participate everyday, and come to class with a
positive attitude. Because students will be off campus, there is
more room to misbehave, but students will understand from the first day
of the unit that on campus rules and consequences still apply.
