Parent Referrals;
Available in the main office of the school,
this form encourages parents to communicate to the school in the areas
of great interest/strenght that a child exhibits which might require differentiated
programming for the child at school.
Phone Calls:
Once a referral is received by the school,
a phone call is made to the parent by the teacher. Needs of the child,
possible follow-up assessments and meeting dates are discussed.
Meetings:
A meeting or series of meetings can be held
between parents, school personnel and students to identify any possible
unit needs and design possible options.
Letters:
When programming change is found necessary,
formal letters are sent home summarizing the key components of this change.
Follow-up letters are then sent at various times throughout the school
year to communicate the child's ongoing progress with the unit.
