Dear Parent/Guardian,
Your child has been participating in a unit on
Bicycle Touring. We are half-way through the unit and have achieved
quite a bit of success to this point. The objectives of this unit
are:
1. Discussing the role of activity/fitness
in one’s life, and the importance of having varied activities to engage
in.
2. Observing peers and evaluating performances/scenerios.
3. Recognition of the essential skills
involved in Bicycle Touring .
4. Performance of the essential skills.
5. Accrue knowledge of the road and laws.
6. Functioning as part of team/pack.
Enclosed is a sheet that is your child’s skill progress report. The evaluation is from the beginning of the unit to the present date. Next week your child will be re-tested on his/her skills. I have commented on the evaluation sheet itself. From this sheet, new goals have been set. These goals are listed on the task sheet.
Please discuss the progress and task sheets with your child. Those skills that are below a 3 will need to be improved to pass the unit. Practice times can be arranged. Please feel free to schedule a conference if you have any questions.
You will be receiving more information on your students progress at the end of the unit. After the three days of the unit, May 19-21, we will be having a Saturday "day-rides". There will be one ride required on a Saturday. There are three weekends available to participate: May 22. 29, or June 5th. Failure to participate in one the weekend ride (without extreme circumstances) will result in a failing grade for the class. We would love it if you could or would like to come participate and support the children!
