The UESL Program can arrange short-term programs in "Language and Culture," "English for International Business," and "Teacher Training for English Teachers." These are typically about three weeks long and are offered on a contract basis for a group of people from a school, business or organization. In addition, UESL can offer programs that combine language instruction with presentations, lectures and special activities in many different areas such as music, psychology, early childhood education, anthropology or computer science.

"Language and Culture"

This type of program usually includes 15 hours of classroom instruction each week and many activities such as horseback riding, river rafting, and hiking at Mt. Rainier. In addition, there are visits to the Chimpanzee and Human Communication Institute and the Yakama Indian Cultural Center.

"English for International Business"

In addition to regular UESL classes, there are special classes in Business English, presentations by business professionals, and visits to CWU business classes. Field trips to local and regional businesses as well cultural and recreational activities are included.

Summer Program

"Teacher Training for English Teachers"

This program is designed to help English teachers develop their language skills and expand their knowledge of teaching methods. Classes in both areas are included- usually a total of 15 hours a week. Teachers have a chance to observe ESL classes and to interact with experienced UESL teachers. A variety of field trips and other outside class activities are also part of the program.

Each program can be tailored to the needs of specific groups. The per person cost, which depends on the length and content of the program, includes room and meals, classes, class materials, airport transfers, all program transportation, all activities, special meals including the Farewell Banquet, and Certificates of Completion.
