Here are some of the accomplishments of our English graduate alumni:

Amber Vargas (M.A. TESOL 2007) is now working at the Yakima Public Library

Shannon Wilson (M.A. English 2007) has had several offers from doctoral programs, and has decided to accept an offer, complete with assistantship funding, from Texas A&M.

Jessica Durgan (M.A. English 2006) is also working on her doctoral degree at Texas A&M. She also had an article on Jane Austen film adaptations accepted for publication in the Jane Austen journal Persuasions.

Gary Rees (M.A. English 2005) was offered a teaching position with the Houston Learning Academy (a private high school) during the summer break from his Ph.D program at University of Houston.

Lucas Peters is working as a tutor in San Francisco and applying to the University of San Francisco to get a teaching M.A.

Eric Benson (M.A. English 2007) is working as a high school teacher.

Corey Dosch (M.A. English 2005) is in the doctoral program at Syracuse, and has won a fellowship from the English department there to attend the School of Criticism and Theory at Cornell University this summer.

Kiffen Dosch (M.A. English 2005) has a teaching position in the Writing Program at Syracuse.

Anne Bahde (M.A. English 2007)is working as head of special collections at San Diego State University.

Jennifer Settle (M.A. English 2007) is still working for World Vision (an NGO out of Washington, D.C.). She recently got married and returned to Ellensburg, working long-distance for World Vision. She is considering applying to our non- tenure-track pool or for high school positions next year.

Miriam Bocchetti (M.A. English 2006) is now the Director of the CAMP program on campus.

AMY GOELTZENLEUCHTER (M.A. LIT 2005) works for Pearson Longman as the ELL specialist for the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii and Alaska. She is also working on a second draft of her screenplay "Revisiting the Raft."

MATT HEUETT (M.A. LIT 2005) will be presenting his paper on "Jealous Androids and Uncaring Humans: Constructions of Humanness in the Novels of Philip K. Dick" at the Life the Universe & Everything XXIV: The Marion K. "Doc" Smith Symposium on Science Fiction and Fantasy at BYU February 16-18, 2006.

MIRIAM BOCCHETTI (M.A. LIT 2005) is currently working as a retention counselor for the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) here on campus.

BOBYE RUDDELL (M.A. LIT 2005) presented a paper entitled "Vehicle of Cultural Critique: Shakespeare's Works in Twenty-first Century Film" at the RMMLA conference in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, October 20-22, 2005.

Six of our recent alumni are now teaching composition in the English Department here at CWU:

Other alumni are continuing their education and pursuing their careers inside and outside of academia:

MATT HEUETT (M.A. LIT 2005) is enrolled in the teacher certification program here at CWU.

MELISSA GREEN (M.A. LIT 2005) was just hired as Upward Bound Program Coordinator at Yakima Valley Community College.

KRISTINA DAHEIM (M.A. LIT 2004) works for Educators' Symposium coordinating professional development seminars for K-12 teachers across the country.

JOHN ASHTON (M.A. LIT 2004) is Associate Head of Upper School and Director of Leadership and Ethics Programs at St. Mark's School of Texas. This summer the International Boys School Coalition published an adapted version of his thesis project: "Boys Will Be... Using Fiction to Challenge Boys to Explore the Meanings of Masculinity."
